The purpose of this study is to examine what motivates people to help others at risk to themselves. The focus is on international aid workers, which in their work put themselves in situations of risk. Earlier research shows that international aid work involves risks such as infectious diseases, violence, death threats, assaults, constant insecurity and risk to be traumatized etc. There is not much research done on what motivates to help others in spite of risks, hence we find this an interesting area. We have interviewed six respondents about the content and character of their motivation and factors that are important for the maintenance and development of this motivation.

The occupational therapist uses meaningful activities to promote health and accomplish functional progress. The professional role is to support and enable for the client to change his/her life. One way to accomplish this is to use the group as a tool. Knowledge is needed about how learning works and which teaching methods exist to promote learning, so it is adapted after the clients´ personal way of learning. In the present study, the institutional discourse in health care was examined, focusing onspeech therapists and occupational therapists in interaction with a common patient withaphasia. The purpose of the present study was to identify common communication strategiesused in the professional conversation between a speech therapist and a patient and between anoccupational therapist and the same patient. Specific research questions were: Whatcommunicative strategies are used in interaction between a speech therapist and a patient withaphasia and between the occupational therapist and the same patient? Are theredifferences/similarities between how speech therapists and occupational therapists interactwith patients with aphasia?Six people in total, two patients in interaction with a speech therapist and an occupationaltherapist respectively, were recorded during treatment sessions of each profession. Generaland specific aspects of the institutional interaction were then analysed according to principlesof conversation analysis.Similarities in the use of closed questions as a strategy to increase the effectiveness ininteraction could be seen between the two different professions studied.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the motives underlying the consumption of alcohol among college students and if the motives differ between genders. The study is based on the following questions: What are the motives underlying alcohol consumption among students? Do these motives differ between men and women? Is there any connection between the motives for alcohol consumption and consumption? The study is a quantitative, empirical comparison study and the data presented is mainly descriptive. The study group consists of students from a university in central Sweden. After an exclusion of five students a total of 81 students participated in the survey, of which 55 were female and 26 were male.

Syftet med denna kvalitativa studie är att studera blivande psykoterapeuters motiv att utbilda sig till psykoterapeuter och att undersöka om de angivna                      motiven skiljer sig åt beroende på grundutbildning och val av teoretisk inriktning på studierna. Studien genomfördes med hjälp av en enkät där deltagarna i undersökning fick svara på öppna frågor om motiv som fått dem att söka psykoterapeututbildningen samt gradera hur deltagarna stämde in i ett antal tänkbara motiv att välja att utbilda sig till psykoterapeut. Med en kvalitativ ansats och genom att företa en induktiv analys av resultatet kunde tretton temakategorier som motiverar att välja psykoterapeutyrket upptäckas; ökad kunskap, ökad kompetens och bättre behandlingsresultat, personligutveckling/personliga egenskaper, karriär/arbetslivssituation, autonomi, status/ekonomi, att komma vidare i en yrkesroll,legitimation/legitimitet, påverkan av en signifikant person eller litteratur,altruism, försvar och egna svårigheter, förväntade belöningar samt ökad tryggheti arbetet.
